Gareth Williams is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Cardiff Institute of Society, Health and Well-Being in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the journal Sociology of Health and Illness, and a Non-Executive Director of Public Health Wales. He has published extensively in academic and professional journals and in books.
He is currently Principal Investigator on the ‘Representing Communities’ project, involving six universities across Wales, Scotland and England, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC); and Co-Investigator on the ‘Productive Margins’ project, a collaboration between Bristol and Cardiff Universities, funded by ESRC. Both projects involve partnerships with policy makers, professional practitioners and community activists and artists.
